Guidelines for Visa

  • Apply for Visa: Students should apply for Student Visa immediately after receiving the Admission Letter from the University.
  • Visa Endorsement: Ensure that the Student Visa is endorsed to MATS University.
  • Apply in Advance: Apply for the Visa well in advance, as processing time is generally 3-9 weeks. It is advisable to consult the Indian Embassy/High Commission if needed.
  • Direct Reporting: If arriving on a Student Visa endorsed to MATS University, students must report directly to the University. The visa cannot be used for other purposes like employment or admission to other institutions.
  • Visa Verification: Upon arrival, students must get their visa verified by the University and deposit a copy with the International Student Coordinator.

Guidelines for Visa Extension & FRO/FRRO

  • Registration with FRRO: All international students (except those from Nepal and Bhutan) must get their Student Visa registered at the nearest FRRO/FRO within 14 days of arrival.
  • Assistance from IC: The International Coordinator will guide and assist with the necessary processes for FRRO registration.
  • Online Application: Students must fill the online application for Registration Certificate (RC) & Residential Permit (RP) upon arrival in India.
  • Visa Extension: If the visa is not valid for the full program duration or if the student needs an extension, they must apply for it before the visa expires. The extension can only be done when the student is on campus.
  • Government Charges: There may be government charges for visa extension, which vary by country.
  • NOC for Travel: Students traveling outside India must carry NOC approval from the local FRRO or valid exit permit.
  • Travel Within India: For travel within India, students must carry original documents such as Passport, RP, and Stay Visa, and must inform the local FRRO about the travel.
