Successfully Organized of Library and Information Science Department

Raipur- The evolving global scenario and the way the field of technology is growing, poses a lot of challenges to the information seekers as well as information professionals. On similar topics, a two-day national conference was organized by the Department of Library and Information Science of MATS University on the need for better information and services, in which professionals, researchers and students from various academic fields participated. A National Conference on the topic “Rise of Hybrid Libraries Balancing Physical and Digital Era” was organized by the Department of Library and Information Science, MATS University on 3rd and 4th May 2024. Dr. Anupam Bala Soni, Ex Director, National Institute of Technology, Raipur, Professor of Chemical Engineering was present as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony. The distinguished guests present on the stage inaugurated the conference by lighting the lamp. Dr. Kalpana Chandrakar, Head of the Department of Library and Information Science, presented a detailed description of the achievements of the department. A souvenir containing more than 66 abstract Paper presented scholars and researchers was released by the guests present on the stage. On the first day of the technical session, Dr. Prashant Bopapurkar, Principal, Kamla Nehru College Korba Chhattisgarh shared his views and in the second technical session, Dr. Bulu Maharana, Professor and Head of the Department of Library and Information Science Sambalpur University, Orissa participated in the program. On the second day of the program, two technical sessions were organized in which Dr. Sunil Sathapati, Deputy Librarian, National Institute of Technology, Raipur, was the keynote speaker and shared knowledge on the current trends in Library and Information Science and in the second technical session, gave a lecture Dr. Madhav Pandey, Librarian, Indira Gandhi Agricultural University.Presentation of 35 research papers and 2 posters on various topics were presented by research students and scholars. More than 150 participants participated in the National Conference. Dr. Bhuleshwari Sahu, Assistant Professor of Library and Information Science, Shri Ram Prasad Kurre, Shri Sanjay Shahjeet, Shri Lakesh Kumar Sahu, Assistant Librarian Sandhya Sharma, Girdhari Lal Pal, Narendra Sao, Madhav Malik and Chandrakant Tandon were organizers of the successful conference. Chancellor of MATS University Mr. Gajraj Pagaria, Director General Mr. Priyesh Pagaria, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) K. P. Yadav, Vice Chancellor Dr. Deepika Dhandh, Registrar Mr. Gokulananda Panda congratulated this event and called it a commendable effort.
