Today, legal education has to meet not only the requirements of the Bar but also the new needs of trade, commerce and industry, in the context of growing internationalization of the profession. Hence, the Mission of MATS Law School is to contribute to the better preparation of lawyers as they increasingly engage in transnational or global legal practice, and when they pursue careers other than private practice, including governmental, non-governmental, academic and corporate careers.

LAW @ MATS

At MATS LAW SCHOOL, the aim of our 5 year BBA.LL.B. (Honours) Degree Program is to create lawyers who are comfortable and skilled in ‘dealing’ with the differing legal systems and cultures that make up our global community while remaining strong in one’s own national legal system. The MATS LAW SCHOOL students will be trained to specialize in international trade practices, comparative law, conflict of laws, international human rights law, environmental law, gender justice, space law, biomedical law, bio-ethics, international advocacy etc. They will also acquire a general knowledge of American, English, and European Union legal system apart from a working knowledge of official languages of the United Nations like Arabic, French, Russian and Chinese.

SINGLE CREDIT COURSES

To provide opportunities for students to know the contemporary developments in various fields of Law, the single credit courses are also introduced. This is done without disturbing the regular schedule of teaching. These courses comprise of 12 hour lectures spread over a week. This also facilitates the nation's otherwise busy leading professionals and academics from foreign universities to teach at the Law School. These are intensive courses and focus on highly specialized areas of Law. The grades obtained in these courses are incorporated in the final transcript of the candidates.

Dr. Shivakant Prajapati

HOD, Assistant Professor
Qualification: Ph.D, UGC NET, LL.M
Dr. Shivakant Prajapati is an Assistant Professor of Law with LL.M, NET-JRF and Ph.D. His specialization is Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence, Administrative Law and Muslim Law. He completed his B.A and LL.B from University of Allahabad and his LL.M from MGKVP, Varanasi and Ph.D. from Law School BHU, Varanasi. He qualified NET-JRF in June 2010. He started his teaching career in 2010 as an Assistant Professor at Rizvi College of Law, Karari, Kaushambi and joined the Sangam University Bhilwara, Rajasthan in 2020. Later, he joined MATS University, Raipur, Chhattisgarh in 2021. He has published multiple research papers in reputed international and national journals, delivered guest lectures and presented papers in international and national seminar and conferences. He is s life time member of New Public Administration Society of India (NEPASI).

Mr. Prashant Kumar

Assistant Professor of Law
Qualification: Ph.D (Pursuing) M.Phil (CONSTITUTIONAL LAW), LL.M (CRIMINOLOGY), BALL.B (CNLU)
Mr. Prashant Kumar is an Assistant Professor of Law at MATS University, Raipur. He is a law graduate from Chanakya National Law University, Patna. He pursued his Masters in Law with specialization in Criminology and M. Phil with specialization in Constitutional Law. Presently, he is pursuing Ph.D in medico – legal domain and its effects. Mr. Prashant Kumar started his career as an Advocate in Supreme Court of India. Consequently, his passion of teaching compelled him to join academics. He has published his research works in different law journals and also participated in various international and national conferences. He also has experience of organizing National Moot Court competitions both as Moot Court Convener during his studies and as a faculty member as well. He strongly emphasizes on the application aspect of law for better understanding of legal concepts and doctrines.

Mr. Amit Pradhan

Assistant Professor of Law
Qualification: UGC NET, Ph.D (Pursuing) LL.M , B.A. LL.B (Constitutional Law Hons.)
Mr. Amit Pradhan, a doctorate candidate at GNLU Gandhinagar, holds a UGC NET qualification and is currently teaching at MATS Law School as an assistant professor. A law graduate who hails from HNLU Raipur as constitutional and criminal law honours. Did his LLM from HNLU Raipur in the field of Corporate Law. He has presented at a number of conferences and workshops, including the National Human Rights Commission annual conference, which was held at HNLU Raipur in 2015. He also published an article on euthanasia at the International Multidisciplinary Conference, which was held at Symbiosis Law School in Hyderabad in 2015. He has also served as a judge for the Hidayatullah National Moot Court Competition 2022 and the Allahbad University National Moot Court Competition. He has also worked as a law trainee with Honble Justice Prashant Mishra at High Court of Bilaspur Chhattisgarh also under Justice Gopal Gowda at Supreme Court of India.

Ms. M. Nidhi

Assistant Professor of Law
Qualification: Ph.D (Pursuing), LL.M , B.A. LL.B (Constitutional Law Hons.)
Ms. M. Nidhi is an Assistant Professor of Law at the MATS Law School. She has done her B.A. LLB (Hons.) from Jaipur National University, Jaipur and pursued her Masters in Law with Constitutional Law as a specialisation from Bharati Vidyapeeth, Pune. She has over two years of teaching experience and was associated with Jaipur National University as an Assistant Professor of Law before joining MLS. She has also worked as legal mentor for CLAT aspirants in CL LST, Bhilai. Her area of interest includes Constitutional Law, Labour laws, Forensic Science and Law as well as Environmental Laws. She has published an Article on Digital Forensics in and international journal and is an active researcher about the aspects of forensic laws in India. She has also participated, volunteered and organised various National and International Moot court Competitions and Model Youth United Nations Conference.

Ms. Manali Shrivastava

Assistant Professor
Qualification : LL.M (Constitutional & Administrative Law), B.A. LL.B (Honors)
Ms. Manali Shrivastava is a graduate from MATS Law School, Chhattisgarh following she has completed her Post Graduation in Constitutional and Administrative Law from CHRIST UNIVERSITY,Bengaluru. She also completed various Certificates courses like Post graduation course on Victimology and Victim Assistance and Criminal Justice, International Migration and Refugee Laws from ISIL, New Delhi, WIPO (world Intellectual property Organisation). She has a keen interest towards Administrative Law, International Law and Child Laws. Including that she has also served in various reputed commissions like Law Commission of Karnataka, Human Rights Commission Chhattisgarh which also included various NGO’s like CRY (Child Rights and You), ARUSHI India, and Criminology & Victimology Centre, Udaipur as well. She also has multiple publications which covers the comparative studies on Fundamental Rights and it’s limitations. She also attended a no. Of seminars and conferences which includes MIGRATION AND REGIONAL DEVELOPMENTS IN INDIA, Criminal Defamation free speech and Right to equality by MNLU. She is currently working as an Assistant Professor of Law.

Ms. Tithi Verma

Assistant Professor
Qualification: LL.M (Environmental Law & Policy) , B.A. LL.B (Honors)
Ms. Tithi Verma is a graduate from Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur. She pursued her Masters in Law from University of Petroleum and Energy Studies in Environmental Law and Policy. She has published many articles and attended conferences including Seminars conducted by West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, SRM University, Hidayatullah National Law Umiversity.She has had a working experience as a trainee in corporate firms including Khaitan &Co., Samvad Partners, Juris Corp and in NGOs namely RLEK, Dehradun.She has also had an opportunity to work under the guidance of Retd. Honble Justice. A.K. Sikri. She has a keen interest in aspects of Environemental Law and Human Rights Law.

Ms. Shriya Badgaiyan

Assistant Professor of Law
Qualification: Ph.D (Pursuing), LL.M , B.A. LL.B
Ms. Shriya Badgaiyan is a graduate from Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University, Visakhapatnam. She specialised in Constitutional Administrative Law. Presently, She is Ph.D scholar at Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University, Vishakhapatnam. She worked as Research Assistant in National Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission, New Delhi. Also, as a Junior Legal Research Consultant in National Human Rights Commission. She has published various articles and presented papers in national and international seminars, attended workshops. She was also invited as a special speaker in the national conference relating to Intellectual Property Rights organised by the Government DSV Sanskrit P.G. College, Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Her other areas of interest include Constitutional Law, Family Laws and Criminal Law.

Dr. Ankita Shukla

Dr. Ankita Shukla is a highly accomplished and experienced legal professional with a strong background in criminal law, international trade law, and teaching. She holds a BALLB degree from Bharati Vidyapeeth University Pune, an LLM in criminal law from Barakatullah University Bhopal, a PGDCL diploma from NILU Bhopal, and a PhD in international trade law. With over 7 years of teaching experience, Dr. Shukla has been an influential figure in the field of legal education. She has a deep passion for teaching and has been widely recognized for her outstanding contributions to legal academia. Her expertise in criminal law and international trade law has made her a sought-after mentor and guide for students pursuing legal studies.Dr. Shukla's academic achievements are remarkable, and her research in international trade law has earned her widespread acclaim. Her PhD thesis has been published in renowned legal journals, and she has presented her research at national and international conferences. Her work in the field of international trade law has contributed significantly to the understanding and development of legal principles governing global trade and commerce.

Mr. Vijay Kumar Patil

Mr. Vijay Patil is an Assistant Professor of BBA LL.B at MATS Law School, MATS University, Raipur. Currently, he is pursuing Ph.D in Management from CSVTU, Bhilai. He received his MBA degree in Human Resource Management and Marketing from SSIMT, Bhilai. He has total 12 years of experience in teaching. He has published various articles in journals and book chapters. Prior to MATS University Raipur, he has worked in Kalinga University, DIMAT , Columbia and Rawatpura Sarkar Institutions. His area of interest is Operation research, QTM, Econometrics and HRM.

Ms. Rakhi Tiwari

Rakhi's journey in the legal field began with her Bachelor of Laws (BALLB) (hons.) from Mats Law School at Mats University, where she excelled in her studies and gained a solid foundation in the principles of law. Her strong academic performance and dedication to her studies earned her recognition and paved the way for her further success in the legal profession. Driven by her passion for deepening her understanding of the legal field, Rakhi pursued her Master of Laws (LLM) from Dharmshastra National Law University in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, India. Her specialization in Business Law allowed her to develop a comprehensive understanding of various legal aspects related to business, including corporate law, contract law, intellectual property law, and international trade law, among others. Rakhi's strong analytical skills and ability to apply legal principles to real-world business scenarios were evident throughout her academic journey, and she graduated with top honors, further establishing her reputation as a skilled legal professional. Rakhi's quest for knowledge and expertise did not stop with her LLM degree. She also undertook a specialized course in blockchain organized by Dharmshastra National Law University, Jabalpur. This additional qualification has enabled her to stay at the forefront of emerging legal trends and technologies, particularly in the field of blockchain, which is gaining increasing importance in various industries, including finance, supply chain management, and intellectual property.

Mr. Shubham Singh

Shubham Singh is a qualified legal professional with a strong academic background in law. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Law (BALLB) degree from Ravishankar Shukla University, one of the premier law schools in India, where he gained a solid foundation in various aspects of law including contract law, criminal law, constitutional law, and legal research and writing. Shubham further pursued his passion for Constitutional Law by obtaining a Master of Laws (LLM) degree from MATS University, specializing in Constitutional Law. During his LLM program, he gained in-depth knowledge in areas such as fundamental rights, separation of powers, federalism, and constitutional interpretation, among others. He excelled in his studies and demonstrated a keen understanding of complex constitutional issues, showcasing his analytical and critical thinking skills. Currently, Shubham is pursuing a PhD from MATS University, focusing on a specific area of Constitutional Law. His research is aimed at contributing to the existing legal literature and advancing the understanding of constitutional issues in his field of study. Shubham's pursuit of a PhD demonstrates his commitment to academic excellence and his dedication to expanding his expertise in Constitutional Law.

Dr. Rahul Singh

Qualification: Ph.D ,MA(Political Science),Btech(Civil)
Dr. Rahul Singh has successfully completed his Ph.D. in Political Science from Government Hemchand Yadav University also qualified UGC NET and CGSET exam. He has presented research papers in different National Seminars and Webinars. He has teaching experience of five years both in academic and competitive exams. Presently he is positioned as an Assistant Professor in MATS Law School, MATS University, Raipur, Chhattisgarh. He has authored a number of research papers published in various reputed Journals including UGC -CARE. He has actively attended and participated in a number of national and international seminars, conferences and workshops which include UGC & ICSSR sponsored Research Methodology workshops of 10 days in research methodology conducted by MPISSR.His field of specialization is international relations and Indian constitution.
