An awareness campaign on “Hello Zindagi: Say No to Drugs” was conducted by Raipur Police in association with MATS University on Thursday at Pandri campus of MATS University. The special guest for the occasion was DSP Lalita Mehar and counselor Dr.Gargi Pandey. While addressing the students of the university DSP Mehar said that the campaign is focusing on the youth, who are often the most vulnerable to falling into the trap of drug abuse. Awareness program is tailored to resonate with younger audiences, addressing peer pressure, stress management, and building self-esteem as crucial factors in staying away from drugs. She also guided the young students about good and bad options they will get in their life. Mostly students get into drug trap by peer pressure so it’s our responsibility not only to safeguard our self from all this ill activities but also to save people around us. She also gave helpline number 9479191099 of Raipur police for fighting against the drugs activities.
Child Counselor Dr. Gargi Pandey emphasized on the facts and medical conditions of drug consumers. She stated about the ill effects of Drugs on our psychology and social behavior. Speaking on the occasion Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. K.P. Yadav said drugs consumption in young generation is destroying the society like termite. Some people in society think drink and
drugs are status symbol but actually it’s an early invitation to death which is a concerning issue for all of us. As academicians we should include classroom lectures about the dangers of drug abuse, the negative consequences of drugs on health and society. The program started with poster making competition on the theme of Say No to Drugs. Around 30 students participated in the competition. After which a skit was performed by Priya Malani, George Horo, Radhika Sahu, Manisha Parida, Disha Madhavan students of English Department. The winners of poster making competition Shirin Rizvi, Manju Chopra and Kashish Bhatt were given certificate and prizes by DSP Lalita. Dr Ranjana Das Sarkhel and Dr Shaista Ansari welcomed the guest with books. The program was anchored by Darshika Chaudhary and vote of thanks by Dr.Bharati Pujari. Head of the Departments, Faculty Members and students of the varsity were present on the occasion.
