About
The Department is involved in activities supporting our national ambitions in the field of Aeronautical Engineering. The Honors program offered by the Department of Aeronautical Engineering specializes the students with the Design and Operation of UAVs. (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle). The state-of-the-art laboratories offer adequate facilities to the students to design build and fly remotely controlled/auto-controlled model aircraft including UAVs.
Well qualified and experienced faculty members are there in the department of Aeronautical Engineering. They specialize in flight mechanics, aircraft propulsion, aircraft structural, avionics, aircraft materials, aerodynamics, UAV’s and aircraft design. The faculty members have an excellent research base with research publications in renowned journals and several chapters in books. At present, few projects from the department are in process of receiving research grants as well as necessary approvals from renowned funding agencies & competent authorities.

To provide the best possible educational facilities for training the students for the careers in Aeronautical Engineering. The Department of Aeronautical Engineering envisions becoming a center of excellence, equipping the students with value and skill based education, pursing globally relevant research and producing professionals committed to nation building.

Course Offer
The Department was established in 2011 and offers B.Tech./ B.Tech. (Hons.) program in Aeronautical Engineering.

The Department houses one of its kind laboratories of various domains:

- Aero Engine Repair Lab
- UAV Lab
- Aerodynamics Lab
- Flight Integrated System & Control Lab
In addition to these, some state of the art equipment are available with the department:
- MIG-21 Aircraft
- Turbo Propulsion Engine
- Computational Lab
Highlights of Department
Aeronautical Engineering department conducts workshop and training program to discover the hidden talents in the young techno-savvy minds and to encourage the enthusiasm in the field of science and technology. The students of the department have shown exemplary flair in perusal of live engineering projects. Here are some highlights of the department:
- The Department hosts an Annual Aero-Modelling Competition in which students from across the country participate.
- The students from the department participated in Water Rocket event and won the 1st prize in national level held in IIT Kharagpur.
- The Department also celebrates World Space Week in which students from various Universities participate.
- Various alumni from this department have been at the forefront of research organization in the country.
- The Department has achieved a milestone in creating the highest number of GATE qualified students in Chhattisgarh in Aeronautical domain. Department has achieved a migration of 10% students to foreign Universities every year
